We arrived in Strasbourg sometime during the night and, after a quick breakfast, set off for a canal tour. The original Strasbourg is actually an island and the canal, including 2 locks, goes all of the way around it. Our great weather finally deserted us today and it was drizzling rain for about 2 hours including all of the time we were on the canal boat. Fortunately it was enclosed with a clear roof so we could see everything, though not as clearly as we would have liked. I managed to open up a section at the back and get some good shots. We learned that Strasbourg has alternated between French and German ownership several times over the centuries, including at least 3 times in the 1900’s. People had to change all of their names, addresses, etc each time this occurred – pretty bizarre.
The tour included 2 hours of free time wandering around the town but we decided we had seen enough and caught a taxi back to the ship.

It is now 2:45pm and we have set sail for Gambsheim where we will have to dress up to go to an evening concert at Rastatt Palace. It’s all go go today.
